Drilling Rig and Tool-System Matching Checklist
The rig does not work alone
The rotary head, feed, pullback, mast, rod handling, circulation package, drill string and bottom-hole tool form one operating system. A mismatch can limit performance even when each component appears suitable on its own.
Mechanical interfaces
- Rotary head connection and adapter
- Rod thread, OD, wall and length
- Hammer top connection or bit connection
- Mast stroke and rod handling length
- Tool diameter and casing requirement
Operating capacity
Compare rotary torque and speed, feed and pullback, compressor pressure and flow or mud-pump capacity, and the expected hole depth. Use the confirmed equipment curves and operating instructions rather than relying only on maximum headline values.
Project and site inputs
Include formation, finished diameter, depth, inclination, drilling method, terrain, transport, altitude and shift target. Explain whether the rig must change between air, mud, DTH, rotary or coring work.
Commercial scope
List what must be included: base rig, compressor or pump, rods, bits, hammer, subs, casing tools, spare parts, manuals, commissioning or training. Confirm voltage, engine, language, marking and destination requirements before release.
Final review
Keep a single configuration record that connects the rig and each tool interface. Technical sales can then update one component without losing compatibility with the rest of the system.
